Korean Red

Can you believe that this is the same person in the Nylon ad I posted earlier? Long hair or short hair, I think Song Hye-Kyo rocks any hair style. Her short dark hair, white (and flawless) skin, and her bold red lips are perfection for her W Korea cover.  She could be the Asian Edie Sedgwick! No wonder she was the first Korean to pose for Vogue Korea.
The styling is reminiscent of the Miu Miu ads of Kirsten Dunst and Lindsay Lohan. I wonder if the old Hollywood style is spreading in Seoul. Probably not.
Anyway, I've been trying to find out who photographed her for this shoot, but no luck. Whoever you are... lovely work!

Ms. Inspiration

I've been pretty m.i.a. lately due to my 18 credit schedule. But thought that this would be lovely to share since there are a lot of Alexa fans out there. I actually picked this magazine up at a local bookstore a couple of days ago. It's U.K's Harper's Bazaar. The whimsical and Carrie in Paris-esque cover caught my eye when I browsed the stands. She is absolutely beautiful. I especially love the second photo because it shows off her girly and ever-so famous tomboy style. I was a tomboy myself growing up so I truly appreciate her incorporating the two contrasting looks. This is a styling tip I've been following recently: mixing the tomboy and the girly girl.
The last photo is Kate Moss and Alexa Chung at the Fendi O' Party in Paris. The two style icons I look up to in one shot. All I can say is, fabulous.

Ms. Edgy

Usually Asians can't pull off the blonde look but I absolutely love it on model Daul Kim. She recently dyed her hair and I have to say she pulls it off quite nicely. She looks edgy. Definitely not a Korean characteristic. I'm so glad she is setting herself apart from the conformist culture. The Japanese do individuality so well but it's about time that a Korean did her own thing.
I also liked the lip shade both her and Coco Rocha wore for the Dolce & Gabbana show. It's dark and sophisticated but also a fun way to accent any outfit. And you can't miss Ms. Rocha's hair and hot pink pants! I think I saw a photo of her in this outfit in The Satorialist.

Ms. Cool

This will be a short entry...
I love this Levi's ad in Korea's Nylon Mag. Song Hye-Kyo is gorgeous! I'm really liking her hair and boyfriend jeans. She just looks cool.

modern chic-ness

I'm taking two French classes and in one of them (Les arts français), my class and I watch French films. Last week we watched Les Parapluies de Cherbourg. I immediately fell in love with the movie, especially the music. "Oh je t'aime! Ne me quitte pas." I also noticed the incredibly beautiful Catherine Denueve. She reminded me of a blonde, French version of Audrey Hepburn.
Well, since watching the movie, I've decided to watch more films directed by Jacques Demy. So I ended up borrowing Lola, which was made before the Cherbourg film. This film was also very good but I ended up becoming infatuated with Anouk Aimée's under garments. She plays Lola, a single mother who dances in a burlesque type of bar.
During the movie, I couldn't help but notice the similarities between Lola's character and Holly Golightly's character. Both ladies nonchalantly put on pieces of clothing and end up looking quite chic. Their beauty routine is so simple and non-fussy (in the movies). I also believe in the simple routine. I like to get ready in under 30 minutes. Wake up, brush my teeth, wash my face, put on clothes, apply light make-up, and out the door! Often I don't do anything to my hair because I only know how to put it into a bun or have it down.
But this routine of mine, got me thinking about other girls' routines. Do girls or guys still wake up 2 or 3 hours earlier to "get ready"? Or has that turned into a myth? Probably not. It might've just turned too faux pas to even talk about.

ADD ME on Blog lovin'! I'll add you back :)

Ms. Rock'n Roll

Black is one of my favorite colors to wear, so I got excited when I saw this picture of Kate Moss wearing black and nude (one of the it colors of the season). She looks so rock'n roll! People may think blazers are not for warmer weather, but Ms. Moss pulls it off quite nicely with the cutoff black denim. I wonder how many blazers this women owns! I would love to raid her closet. Her daughter is lucky to have such a stylish mum. Imagine all the wardrobe choices she will have when she is older!

Note to self: look for black cutoff denim.

Someone pinch me! First Daria Werbowy is finally back in this Spring '09 ad campaign for Balmain and second, these Jeffrey Campbell Balmain look-a-likes are available online in my size! Payday is in a couple of days. I hope the stock holds up till then.

I hope all of you are having a great week!

lily lily allen

It's been way too long since my last post but here are a few pics I took at the Lily Allen concert back on April 6 at the Showbox Sodo. As usual I've been busy with school and looking for a job. I'm in desperate need of some money!
Well enough about money. The Lily concert was f'ing amazing. She is a total British rockstar. Drunk on stage and smoking a cigarette while singing. I was in awe. The high-light of the show was during her song "F*** you". During the chorus, she flipped the bird and everyone in the audience followed suit. I was holding my camera, so it was pretty hard for me to actually do it. Lily is not your typical role model but I really like her "I don't care what you think about me" attitude. After this concert was over, I listened to her CD for 2 weeks nonstop. No joke.

Favorite tracks:
 1. F*** you.
 2. 22
 3. The fear

Travis

Sunday night a friend and I went to the Travis concert at the Showbox at the Market. To put it simply, it was mesmerizing! I fell in love with Dougie Payne and Fran Healy that night. It's a bit odd that not too many people here know who they are though because they're super famous in the U.K. But I think I need to stop obsessing over married men (i.e. Christian Bale , James McAvoy). I don't think it's a healthy habit.
Back to the concert, the highlight of the evening was when Fran Healy came down to the audience level while performing Falling Down! I was literally less than a foot away from the guy. I could've touched him, but I always get shy when I'm near someone famous. It happened with Lily Allen, Sir Mix-a-lot, and Sung Kang. Well once he came down to our level, he started dancing with a bearded fellow while singing "I've got a kick out of you" to the guy. It was such a surreal moment. A funny surreal moment but the fact that he wasn't afraid to get down into the crowd was quite humbling.
Another characteristic I liked about Fran was the way he said certain words. This may sound strange but it was incredibly attractive when he used profane words like f*** or shite during the show. It must've been the Scottish accent.
Overall, I hope they come back to the Emerald City again. Be sure to check them out in a city near you. I guarantee you'll enjoy their show as much as I did.

As of late, Seattle has been blessed with wonderful weather. I'm enjoying myself and soaking up as much vitamin D as possible (Seattle-lites are deficient in vitamin D). I went to another concert last night, so I will post photos from that concert very soon!

p.s. Have you noticed I'm wearing Russian Red again? Time to wear a different shade!

Russian Red

So I finally purchased some lipstick! This shade is Russian Red by M.A.C. I also bought Morange. My dad thought Morange was a little too extreme for me, but I told him that I could probably only pull these shades off when I'm young so he didn't say anything else. I have been expressing my mood with nail polish colors but I think I will experiment with lipstick shades now. There's a sense of being more woman-like when wearing lipstick. I used to be strictly a Burt's and Bees chapstick kind of gal but it looks like I'm growing up.
And I totally forgot to take pictures with my new open toe oxfords from Corso Como. I bought one in black and one in brown. I think they're perfect for the warmer weather that has yet to come.
